This wrist mala is made with naturally dyed yak bone beads that are inlaid with pieces of turquoise, coral, and brass.
Bone beads allow us to reflect on the notion of impermanence. Nothing is ever completely created or destroyed, it only changes from one state to another.
A note about bone usage: In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, and ritual items. Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animal goes to waste. These stunning bone beads are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.
This adjustable wrist mala measures approximately 7 inches around when fully tightened and opens to about 10 inches
Beads are 8-9mm
Handmade in Nepal
Because our malas were made by our artisan partners in Nepal, a portion of profits rightfully belongs to the Himalayan community. BHANTI is partnering with the Himalayan Children's Fund to provide funds for education and medical clinics in India, Nepal, and Tibet.
